The United Nations Foundation’s Why We Care showcases personal stories from U.S. and global leaders who are committed to advancing reproductive health and rights as a key component of sustainable development.
Why We Care was launched in 2012 with essays from the Aspen Institute’s Global Leaders Council for Reproductive Health, which kicked off a global movement to go on-the-record with personal stories of support for global family planning. In addition to original essays from Ted Turner, Joyce Banda, Annie Lennox and others, a new, diverse group of champions have joined the campaign. New essays come from United Nations Population Fund executive director Babatunde Osotimehin, Congresswoman Jane Harman, conservationist Michael Brune and many other notable individuals.

Their personal stories demonstrate the centrality of reproductive health to our individual and collective development, dignity, and prosperity. We urge you to take a look, share them, and learn more about the issue.
